Day seven MindBody Cleanse – The way of humility
Humility is the quality or state of not thinking that you are better than other people.
One who has a need to be better than others logically needs to impress others, craves reassurance from the group, and lacks a sense of peace. I am not suggesting that we stop working towards personal growth but we do so realizing that we are one of many precious amazing beings on this planet including animals and plant life- Every life counts and every life has credence.Humility comes hand in hand with gratitude, compassion and an open heart.It is our very humility which gives us worth.
Imagine for a moment that you are looking down upon the planet and you are floating higher and higher and higher in the air. We look down upon our world and we gain perspective as we see our humble role as one of many. When we climb up the mountain of life we can look down and see how insignificant so many of our western cultural beliefs are. Concepts such as ego, arrogance, and pride take away from our communal perception and instead support a misguided cult of individualism.
Lets instead focus on what counts. Enlightenment, peace and happiness comes with humility. …The knowledge that we are born to serve others.

Writer and designer Graham Hill asks:
Can having less stuff, in less room, lead to more happiness?
He makes the case for taking up less space, and lays out three rules for editing your life. This is one of my favorite areas as my own way of simplicity keeps me on my path to self-realization and happiness. As a mother of 4, I find it challenging to keep life simple but I find that the more I keep it simple the better I feel – I feel stronger with a clear mind and a clearer mind comes from decluttering and editing my life. Decluttering is not just about physical space- the funny thing is that when we clear out physical space we let in the light of clarity and peace. Look around you- Look at all the stuff can you clearly say that each item brings you joy? At the moment I am reading the life-changing magic of tidying up. By Marie Kondo…Amazing book – you must read it. a lovely listener recommended it for me.
So as Kondo teaches us let’s pick up each item in our life and ask
’‘what joy does this bring us today”. Kondo
Let not get distracted by clutter let focus upon what really counts.

Learn to say no and be happy
Day five MindBody Cleanse – The way of assertiveness

Today we talk about how learning to say no can allow happiness to flow into our life.
There will be so many moments in your life when people attempt to trample your boundaries, pressure you to please them, or distract you from being yourself. The answer is to have the assertiveness to demarcate your boundaries. The answer is to say no.
Seth Godin says
If you can’t do a good job, don’t take it on.
If it’s going to distract you from the work that truly matters, pass.
If you don’t know why they want you to do this, ask.
If you need to hide it from your mom, reconsider.
If it benefits you but not the people you care about, decline.
If you’re going along with the crowd, that’s not enough.
If it creates a habit that costs you in the long run, don’t start.
If it doesn’t move you forward, hesitate then walk away.
Have a think about a time when someone tried to encourage you to be disloyal to your own values. Were you true to your values? Or did you abandon your values in order to fit in with the group? How did you feel at this time? Being loyal to your sense of self may be challenging but in the end of the day being your authentic self will bring you not only happiness but contentment.

Day four MindBody Cleanse – The path of reflection
We can reflect on experiences much as we do on photos- remembering the celebration, the laughter, and the love or we can choose to reflect with bitterness and resentment focussing upon the negative. Today let’s take out some mind-forged photos out of our photo albums of life and reflect with an openness to learning with an emphasis on happiness and an invitation to joy.
And what does it mean to reflect? To reflect is to throw back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it.
It also means to have a serious thought or consideration. When we learn to reflect we can review adjust and develop our cognitive thoughts in order to learn to practice happiness.
